How we
met...
At a brewery party after a
Footy game.
How
he proposed... I was
graduating from university and awoke early to get ready for the ceremony.
When I was getting ready (at 5:30 in the morning) he was sitting in our bed
and told me he had something special for me. The night before, he told me he
had a gift for me, but he wasn't sure if it would match the outfit I was
wearing for my graduation - so I wasn't overly shocked to see a small
jewellery box - assuming it was a necklace or earrings. When he opened the
box, I was shocked... and excited. He said some wonderful words (which I
can't recall in detail because I was so excited about the ring). He tried to
put the ring on my finger, but my hands were a bit swollen and it was a
challenge. The ring finally slid on, and he asked me to marry him. It was
such an exciting moment.
How we feel about our upcoming married
life...
I feel very excited
about our wedding and married life together. We have planned a longer
engagement so we can hopefully enjoy the planning and not be to stressed out
about the details.
Our dream wedding could be described as...
A traditional Catholic
ceremony in our church, an elegant reception with great food and wine, and a
killer party with a live band.
Our colour/theme:
Royal purple
(eggplant/plum), gold and ivory.
planning
So far (by
December 23, 2008) we've planned...
We have booked our ceremony and reception locations, our reception
musicians, our limo and hair stylist.
Our biggest concern right now is...
Organizing my day and
not being late or stressed. Finding a happy compromise between what my
fiancé and I want.

How we're feeling...
With Christmas just finishing, we are hoping that the stress of the season
doesn't continue into our planning process. We have several more vendors to
book this month, and we are hoping all goes well!
What's going on with my
bridal party...
My bridesmaids
and I have picked out our dresses. I have chosen a beautiful Mori Lee
princess gown and my girls are wearing different styles of the 'eggplant'
(deep purple) full length Alfred Angelo dresses. Everyone had so much
fun trying on all the different dresses at a girl's night out party at the
bridal shop. I am really glad they were able to choose their own style,
because they each picked a different dress that all look great on them!
Our
budgeting issues this week/day/month...
My issue this
month is that I might have gone a little overboard at Christmas, and getting
back on track may prove to be a challenge with several down payments to make
this month.
And the hunt
continues...
We have
chosen almost all of our vendors, and need to book a couple still. Only
things we are still looking for... musicians for our ceremony and a
honeymoon spot!
Advice for out
brides out there...
Ah. the blessed
New Year's resolution. I don't know if I should make one this year... you
know they almost never stick it out for the year. If I had to, I guess it
would be cherish everyday and live each moment for all it's worth. I find it
amazing that it is 2009 already. I'm not sure where 2008 went, and I don't
think I enjoyed everything I could have. I am going to try to really live in
the moment, and enjoy my engagement (somehow while still planning for a day
almost 9 months away!)
