Ultimate
Affairs make hiring a wedding planner seem simply obvious
Reviewing Teresa Medeiros and
Nelia Da Silva of Ultimate Affairs
You might want to
mentally file away whatever you thought
you knew about wedding planners. Ultimate Affairs makes you feel like hiring a wedding planner is simply obvious.
Working out of their studio at the Shops of Waterloo Town Square, their goal is to bring everything you love most about your wedding day (and
those things you don't even want to know about) together.
Teresa and Nelia's
goal is always to either meet or beat your wedding budget while giving you the chance to 'make like a movie star' and walk into a wedding
day that is exactly how you envisioned it. The best part about it is that you
will never have to know the specifics around how or why your wedding came to be
perfect... You just get to enjoy it.
Personally speaking...
Teresa Medeiros and Nelia Da Silva
are your down-to-earth, detail-focused, fun-to-be-with wedding planners.
Teresa and Nelia are also true best friends. They live on the same street, have
been raising their children together for the past three years, and now - lucky
for local brides
- they are planning weddings together.
Ultimate Affairs can
be seen talking with brides at their stylish display at some of the biggest
local shows. They come highly recommended by some of the best wedding designers
in the city such as Boulevard Photography and Fine Things and The Cake Box. And
equally important, they are regular life savers on The Ring's chat boards, thus
earning them the trust of the local bridal population (not an easy feat in
itself). With a variety of notable fantasy weddings under their belts, Teresa and Nelia
love what they do and are here to
stay.
Teresa worked in
social services for ten years before moving on to build her portfolio as an
event planner. Teresa is energetic, with a voice that fills the room
with energy - something you'll see
when you sit down to talk weddings with her. Teresa carries that attitude that
she
can do anything - that whatever the job
is, she will get it done.
Nelia is more on
the quiet side. She always smiles and she tends to do more listening than
talking. When it comes to weddings, Nelia is the one with the 'knack' for
handling any level of stress or details that come her way. Her career as an
emergency room respiratory therapist has always meant being fast, accurate, and
caring, and above all, never looking like she is under pressure.
Balancing each other
out, Nelia's attention to detail works alongside Teresa's ideas and big
plans. Teresa and Nelia are both volunteer event coordinators at the neighbourhood community centre and an active part of
what K-W is really all about.
Expert
training
Nelia and Teresa
have completed their wedding coordinators certification through WPIC (Wedding
Planners Institute of Canada). It is the only way to get your Wedding
Coordinator's Certification in Canada. The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada
was awarded its Master Licence to operate from the Government of Canada and is
subject to the rules and regulations of the Private Career Colleges Act.
WPIC is
the only wedding coordination certification recognized by ISES (International
Special Events Society). Wanting to work from the best knowledge base possible,
Teresa and Nelia are continuing their training. They are in the process of
obtaining their Events Management certificate through Ryerson University.

The
appeal of an
ultimate affair
When planning a
wedding, brides often look to websites, planning books, the maid of honour, mom,
or even Aunt Edna to help you cover all of their angles and not miss any steps along
the way. By using the help that Teresa and Nelia are offering, you
are essentially
giving your family, friends and yourself the day off. You'll have your own
assistants with you throughout the day. Like a scene out of 'The Wedding
Planner', Nelia and Teresa will set up each detail of your day, talking to each
other on head sets. They will quickly become the only tool you need to pull your wedding day
details, plans and ideas together.
"By combining
our personal and professional assets, we envision, organize and execute
brilliantly planned events. Our goal is to stay on top of what's hot. We strive
to attend seminars whenever possible for fresh new ideas, and excellent service
is our commitment to each of our clients."
With Ultimate
Affairs, you have your very own right hand women to take care of everything that
you don't want to, or didn't know you had to. While one of your coordinator
remains at the hall to manage the set-up of your event, your other coordinator
stays by your side, as your assistant.
"... When you hire
us to help you plan or coordinate your wedding, you're getting more than a
service... We want brides, grooms and their families to feel like they now have
a support
system
in place to help them through this journey... Contrary to the belief of some
that all an event planner does is make a bunch of phone calls, we are a resource
for brides, a confidant, counsellor, and facilitator. Our goal is to make sure
that the bride and groom have the best possible experience on their wedding
day."
Teresa and Nelia
make themselves available to their clients in person, by phone and by email
throughout the process, so that they feel taken care of.
What's a
bride to do?
If you're even
considering a wedding planner, you should know how it works. With Ultimate
Affairs, you get as little or as much help as you'd like. If you hire them early enough into the planning,
Teresa and Nelia will likely help you save more money in the initial stages of
your booking and hiring, than you would ever be billed by them.
Your initial
consultation, 'Weddings 101', is your jump start into setting a budget,
theme, overall design, and plan for your wedding. Essentially, this first
meeting is designed to get you on the right track, and organized. The Weddings 101 fee is
$100 for the first hour and $50 per hour thereafter. This fee is waived entirely if you
hire Ultimate Affairs as your wedding planners.
With 'Full Service
Planning', you have help from beginning to end. All of the planning,
quoting, hiring, details, set-up, tear-down, deliveries, payments to vendors,
and wedding week services are included.
An initial meeting will determine how Ultimate Affairs can help you and what the
fee for your services will be.
Services include Wedding Day Coordination. and monthly payments make it easy to 'pay as you plan'.
'Wedding Day
Management' is still a popular choice for brides who are getting close to
the wedding day and have started feeling the pressure that comes from
hundreds of last minute details. Wedding Day Management essentially pulls
everything together, just when it feels like things are falling apart. This
option gives you two wedding planners for the price of one, at your
disposal,
exactly when you need it most. This service commonly begins with
several planning sessions and then offers you the full services of a planner in the weeks leading up to your wedding day.
Teresa and Nelia will help you review all details, make timelines, and make your
rehearsal and wedding day festivities run smoothly. Wedding Day Management is
$650.

Details of Tim & Tara, and Jenn and Al's
weddings...
In other words...
"You
ladies were a huge part of my wedding and the primary reason why I
enjoyed my day so much. It was vary liberating knowing that
everything was taken care of... I do not know how I could
have done it without you; you were my honorary bridesmaids! Thanks
Ladies." - Beth, Kitchener
"How can we ever thank you?... I was so stressed before meeting you... Our guests have been commenting that it was the nicest
wedding they had ever been to. I'm sure there were things that went wrong,
but I was totally unaware of them as the two of you took care of
everything!... Thank God
it didn't rain, but if it had I heard that you helped prepare for an
indoor ceremony." - Al &
Jennifer, August, 2005
"Ultimate Affairs was GREAT! They really do allow a bride to focus
on her day, and not on the dramas unfolding throughout it! They also
have those little headset thingys, which is very cool! (is it bad
that I'm so thrilled with the head sets??)... I'm extremely impressed with the way they handle
themselves, and how they do things - anyone who's on the fence
about hiring them... DO IT! Even if it's just the wedding day
co-ordination package, it's so worth it!" - Amy Grigg, September,
2005
